I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland with the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and a Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Counseling. I obtained my graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland in 2001 with a certification in Family Counseling, and received my undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology with a concentration in Apparel Design from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1993. I developed a passion for working with children, adolescents, adults, and families throughout my graduate internships and practicum studies. Since this time, I have worked in the counseling field for 18+ years and have gained experience through extensive training in psychotherapy and counseling in a variety of settings to include community mental health facilities, a therapeutic after-school program, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and an outpatient partial hospitalization program with a diverse population to include children, adolescents, adults, and families with Anxiety/Depression disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, ADHD, self esteem issues, grief and loss, and trauma related issues.
I have been in private practice since January 2011 and have been working with a diverse population of clients. I hold a certification in Family Counseling. I am an active member of the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy National Certification and Accreditation Association (DBTNCAA). I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor in the state of Virginia, and am available to provide supervision to Professional Counselors seeking their licenses to practice independently.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, exercising (Zumba), traveling, shopping and sewing.
